Word of Life Extended Ministries to Churches
Word of Life Local Church Ministries is all about communicating truth… Biblical Truth. The challenge we have embraced is to “Reach youth, whose needs constantly change, with the TRUTH that never changes.” This requires a delicate, but deliberate ministry. We are committed to the local churches. We are investing in local church leaders through training and discipleship. We provide curriculum and instruction for reaching preschool (ages 4-5), children (grades 1-6), and teens (ages 13-19). Today, there are over 100 missionaries and associates. These men and women are working with over 1,200 Word of Life Clubs across North America alone. Weekly, over 33,000 young people are being discipled through the Word of God. These young people are being challenged to reach their world for Jesus Christ!
Howie and Jeannette met at the alter of a small church in NH when they responded to a Gospel invitation in 1955. They were married 3 years later and served the Lord as youth leaders in that church and raised five children. In 1978, at the age of 42 God called them into missionary service with Word of Life helping other churches and discipling leaders as they had been discipled. God used them through 2001 serving churches, leaders and missionaries in New England, New York and Bermuda as they presented the Gospel and discipled youth, leaders and missionaries. The Evangelical Church of Bermuda was one of the first churches they served when Word of Life was first started in Bermuda in 1986. In 2002, at age 65, Word of Life challenged them to reach out to churches and help them evangelize youth and disciple youth and leaders in areas of the US where there is no onsite Area Missionary via mail, email, phone and electronic resources. They are still on missionary support serving with two other missionary couples in the Extended Ministry to Churches of Word of Life Local Church Ministries. The Lord has blessed them with 19 grandchildren, five of which are at the Word of Life Bible Institute and six of which are going on mission trips in 2009. All of their children and grandchildren are or have been involved in Word of Life Ministries in their local churches. ECB is one of their faithful supporting churches.
